Twelve years ago, as a medical student at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), I had the privilege of founding AMSA Diabetes Day — a small beginning driven by a simple goal: raise public awareness of diabetes and help people take charge of their health.
Fast forward to 2025, the event has grown beyond what I could have imagined. This year's 12th edition brought together over a thousand participants, successfully combining public health advocacy, medical education, and community empowerment.
I was deeply honoured to return as a guest of honour, standing alongside a new generation of passionate medical students who are carrying this mission forward with even greater energy.
One highlight was the academic forum on digital health and women in leadership, hosted by Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching. Together with female experts from UPM's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, we explored how AI, telemedicine, and digital platforms are reshaping healthcare — and the importance of elevating women in medical leadership. The students' curiosity and engagement were truly inspiring.
Although my role has changed, my purpose remains the same.
Thank you to AMSA-UPM and everyone who keeps this spirit alive.
Let us keep taking this step — toward a healthier, more inclusive, and stronger future. 💪🌍
